Xayasane, Nokyoung
Nokyoung Xayasane's poems explore intersections between form and meaning, as they express the joys and difficulties of meetings between cultures.

Nokyoung Xayasane is of Lao heritage, but she was born in a Thai refugee camp and came to Canada in 1989, five days after her fifth birthday. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B.A., Honours in Rhetoric and Professional Writing, and from the University of Western Ontario she has a degree in Health Sciences with Biology. She lives in Toronto where she is a freelance writer.

Born in Harrisburg, Virginia, Carol Ann Weaver is now Associate Professor of Music at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. She created and administers Sound in the Land, bringing scholars and performers from across the world to a conference/festival of music.

Ukkola, Susan
Susan Ukkola was born in Sudbury. An artist from an early age, she graduated from the Ottawa College of Art. She is represented by several galleries in Canada, and her work is in many private collections.
unexpected journeys

Tobin, Jon
Although he was born in Toronto, Jon Tobin grew up in Kenabeek, Ontario, about 100 miles north of North Bay and 20 miles from the Quebec border. In that community, he learned to appreciate, even to emulate, his neighbours' careful and skilful making of objects that had a spiritual and practical application to their everyday lives.

Laurie Spieker was born and grew up in Dunnville, Ontario, where she learned to appreciate the natural world which remains a source for many of her stained glass images.
